One Integrated Cable Development System

Reliable cable performance does not come from one material, one machine or one isolated test. It is created through a series of connected engineering decisions—from understanding how the cable will move and what it must transmit to selecting suitable materials, controlling production and validating the finished construction.

Hulk brings these disciplines together in one industrial cable manufacturing system. Our engineers, production teams and laboratory personnel work from the same confirmed technical requirements, helping customers move from an application challenge to a repeatable, production-ready cable.

Design & Materials

Engineering and Material Foundations

Every reliable industrial cable begins with two decisions: how the cable should be constructed and which materials are suitable for the application. Hulk evaluates these decisions together so that electrical performance, mechanical life, cable dimensions, environmental resistance and manufacturability remain properly balanced.

Cable Design

A custom cable design begins by converting operating conditions into measurable engineering inputs. These may include voltage, current, signal type, conductor size, core count, shielding requirements, movement, bend radius, available installation space and expected environmental exposure.

Our engineers use these inputs to define conductor stranding, core arrangement, insulation, shielding, reinforcement and jacket construction. The objective is not to make a cable unnecessarily complex, but to develop a practical structure that delivers the required performance and can be manufactured consistently.

Key Capabilities

  • Conductor and core configuration
  • Shielding and electromagnetic compatibility
  • Cable geometry and diameter control
  • Flexibility and bend-radius considerations
  • Design for stable manufacturing

Material Selection

Cable materials must be selected according to actual operating conditions rather than a general preference for one compound. Temperature, oil, chemicals, abrasion, flame behavior, flexibility, cleaning processes and installation environment can all affect the appropriate choice.

Hulk evaluates conductor, insulation, filler, shielding and jacket materials as one complete system. Depending on the application, available options may include PVC, PUR, TPE, silicone and halogen-free compounds. We also consider how material choices influence flexibility, durability, processing stability and compliance requirements.

Key Capabilities

  • Insulation and jacket material evaluation
  • Temperature and environmental resistance
  • Oil, chemical and abrasion resistance
  • Halogen-free and flame-retardant options
  • Material compatibility within the complete cable
Motion Engineering

Advanced Engineering for Continuous and Multi-Axis Motion

Industrial motion places very different stresses on a cable depending on how the equipment moves. Continuous linear travel in a drag chain is not the same as repeated twisting in a six-axis robot. Hulk treats these as separate engineering disciplines and develops the cable construction around the actual movement profile.

High-Flex Cable Engineering

Continuous-flex cables are exposed to repeated bending, acceleration, deceleration and direction changes. Their service life depends on the interaction between conductor stranding, core lay, shielding, jacket material, cable diameter and the specified bend radius.

Hulk develops high-flex cable constructions around the application’s travel distance, speed, acceleration, bending radius, duty cycle and environmental conditions. The completed design can then be evaluated through motion endurance testing under defined test parameters.

Key Capabilities

  • Continuous linear flexing
  • Short bend-radius applications
  • High-speed drag chain movement
  • Conductor fatigue reduction
  • Flexible shielding construction
  • Motion endurance validation

Robot & Torsion Cable Technology

Robotic cables may experience bending, rotation, torsion, acceleration and rapid directional changes within the same movement cycle. These combined stresses require a balanced construction that allows cable layers to move without concentrating excessive force in one component.

Hulk engineers robot and torsion cables for multi-axis robotic arms, collaborative robots and other three-dimensional motion systems. Conductor arrangement, shielding, reinforcement and jacket materials are selected according to the required torsional movement, installation path and working environment.

Key Capabilities

  • Repeated torsional movement
  • Multi-axis and three-dimensional motion
  • Flexible shielding systems
  • Balanced internal cable construction
  • Combined bending and torsion resistance
  • Application-specific motion testing

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Cable Capabilities

Can Hulk develop a cable if we do not yet have a finished cable drawing?

Yes. We can begin with the application and operating requirements rather than a completed drawing. Our engineers review the electrical function, motion, installation space, environmental exposure and applicable standards, then propose a suitable cable construction for technical confirmation.

What information should we provide for a custom cable project?

Useful information includes the equipment or application, conductor size, core count, voltage, current, signal or communication protocol, movement type, bend radius, temperature range, exposure to oil or chemicals, shielding requirements, certification needs and estimated order quantity. An existing specification, drawing or reference sample can also support the evaluation.

What is the difference between high-flex and robot torsion cable engineering?

High-flex engineering primarily addresses repeated bending during continuous linear movement, such as travel inside a drag chain. Robot torsion engineering addresses repeated twisting, rotation and multi-axis movement. Because the stresses are different, the conductor arrangement, shielding, reinforcement, jacket and validation methods may also differ.

How does Hulk select cable insulation and jacket materials?

Materials are selected according to the complete operating environment. We evaluate temperature, movement, abrasion, oil, chemicals, flame behavior, flexibility, cleaning exposure and market requirements. The selected compound must also work properly with the other components of the cable and remain stable during manufacturing.

What cable tests can Hulk perform?

Our laboratory supports electrical, dimensional, mechanical, material, motion and environmental testing. Depending on the project, testing may include conductor resistance, insulation resistance, voltage withstand, repeated flexing, torsion, temperature exposure and flame-related evaluations. Customized test programs can also be developed for specific application conditions.

Can Hulk support UL, CE, TÜV, IEC or VDE requirements?

Hulk maintains certifications and product approvals covering multiple international standards and markets. However, certification applicability depends on the specific cable model and construction. We review the required market and standard during project evaluation and confirm which existing approval or certification route is appropriate.

How long does custom cable sampling take?

For many new specifications, rapid sampling can be completed in approximately seven days after the construction, materials and technical requirements are confirmed. More complex designs, special materials, tooling, testing or certification requirements may require additional time. The sampling schedule is confirmed during project review.

What is the typical production lead time?

Many standard production orders can be scheduled with a lead time of approximately 15 days. The actual schedule depends on material availability, cable complexity, testing requirements, order quantity and current production capacity. A confirmed delivery plan is provided after the specification and order details are reviewed.
