Control Cabinet Cables for Industrial Panel Wiring
Reliable cable solutions for power, control, signal and industrial communication — inside the cabinet and from the control cabinet to equipment in the field.
HULK manufactures industrial cables for PLC systems, servo drives, VFDs, I/O modules, sensors, motors and industrial networks, with cable constructions available for fixed installation, flexible routing and continuous-motion applications.
Where Cables Work Inside an Industrial Control Cabinet
An industrial control cabinet brings together power distribution, machine control, motion control and communication. The cables connecting these functions may carry very different electrical signals and operate under very different conditions.
PLC & I/O Connections
Control and signal wiring connects PLC modules, relays, terminal blocks and distributed I/O with the devices they control.
Servo & Motion Control
Servo drives communicate with motors, encoders and feedback devices through power, signal and communication cables.
Motor & VFD Connections
Variable frequency drives and motor controllers require suitable cable constructions for reliable power transmission and the electrical environment around the drive system.
Industrial Communication
PLCs, HMIs, industrial switches, drives and remote I/O increasingly communicate through Industrial Ethernet and fieldbus networks.
Selecting the cable according to the function of each circuit helps simplify installation, maintain signal integrity and support reliable machine operation.

What Makes Control Cabinet Cable Selection Different?
A control cabinet may look like a protected environment, but the combination of dense wiring, power electronics and connections extending into the machine creates several practical cable challenges.
EMI & Signal Integrity
Servo drives, VFDs and motor circuits can operate close to PLC signals, encoder feedback and industrial communication cables. Appropriate shielding, cable routing and separation help reduce interference and support stable signal transmission.
Limited Installation Space
Modern control cabinets often contain more components in less space. Cable diameter, flexibility and routing behavior can affect how easily cables pass through ducts, terminal areas and densely populated sections of the panel.
Heat & Industrial Environment
Heat generated inside the enclosure should be considered together with conditions outside the cabinet. Cables extending into machinery may also encounter oil, coolant, chemicals or elevated temperatures.
Fixed vs. Dynamic Installation
A cable may be stationary inside the cabinet but enter a drag chain, robotic axis or other moving system after leaving the enclosure. In these applications, the dynamic section of the route becomes a critical part of cable selection.
The Cable Requirement Does Not End at the Cabinet Door
Control cabinet wiring is only one part of the electrical connection. Once a cable leaves the enclosure, operating conditions can change immediately. A fixed connection may become exposed to vibration, repeated bending, machine oils, temperature changes or continuous movement.
Control Cabinet → Servo Motor
Shielded servo and motor cables connect drives with motors and motion systems.
Control Cabinet → Sensors & Actuators
Signal and sensor cables connect PLC and I/O systems with devices installed throughout the machine.
Control Cabinet → Industrial Network
Ethernet and fieldbus cables connect controllers with distributed I/O, drives, switches, cameras and other networked equipment.
Control Cabinet → Drag Chain or Moving Axis
Where routing becomes dynamic, high-flex cable construction can help withstand repeated bending and mechanical stress.
Control Cabinet → Robot
Connections entering robotic equipment may require cable designs capable of handling bending, torsion or multi-axis movement.
Considering the entire cable route — rather than only the section inside the cabinet — helps prevent a stationary cable specification from being used in an application that later becomes dynamic.

Technical guidance for control cabinet wiring, PLC systems, servo applications and dynamic cable routing.
01 What types of cables are used in industrial control cabinets? + −
Industrial control cabinets can use control cables, signal and data cables, servo and motor cables, Industrial Ethernet cables, fieldbus cables and sensor cables. The correct cable depends on whether the circuit carries power, control signals, feedback or communication data.
02 What cables are typically used for PLC wiring? + −
PLC installations may use general control wiring for digital I/O, shielded signal cables for sensitive analog or feedback circuits, and Industrial Ethernet or fieldbus cables for network communication. The exact construction depends on the PLC system and connected equipment.
03 Should control cabinet cables be shielded? + −
Not every cable needs shielding. Shielding is particularly relevant around servo drives, VFDs, encoder feedback, analog signals and industrial communication circuits where electromagnetic interference may affect signal quality.
04 What cable is used between a servo drive and a motor? + −
Servo systems normally require cables designed for the electrical characteristics of the drive and motor. Depending on the system, separate or combined power, brake and feedback connections may be required. Dynamic installations may also require a high-flex servo cable.
05 Can high-flex cables connect directly to a control cabinet? + −
Yes. A high-flex cable can terminate inside a control cabinet and then continue into a drag chain or other moving part of the machine. The cable should be selected according to the most demanding section of its installation route.
06 Can HULK customize cables for control cabinet applications? + −
Yes. HULK can customize conductor size and configuration, shielding, insulation, jacket materials, overall diameter, flexibility, temperature range, environmental resistance, colors and applicable certification requirements according to the project.
